![]() We stopped at a Harley dealer and I jumped at the chance to test ride a softail slim and the new lowrider, I do not need a rolling couch. I have sipped the kool aid and kind of like the flavor. Whenever we stop for the ride lunch their bikes get a lot of attention, cruising the beach I have witnessed accompanied women throw these guys,(not a stud among them), sly waves and smiles. I was not very impressed with the Harley performance, but do like the ergos and the relaxed vibe, with a sense of camaraderie thrown in. The guys that have switched bikes with me now want an fz as a second fun bike to add to the stable. full boat Forks by Matt, Ivans flash,Akropovic carbon, Seat concepts GP, PR4 tires have all made my bike a keeper that now feels settled and perfect for me. I get on b mode and follow the group on 100 to 200 mile rides up the San Diego coast or the beautiful backroads we are blessed with locally. They range from a 2003 Road King to a 2018 Street Glide, with two Dynas. I really enjoyed riding it though.I ride with a group of friends who all have Harleys, with loud stereos and big fairings. (I had to sell that ZX14R cause my neck would really start hurting trying to look up/forward all the time in that sitting position. ![]() *I would really like to have a similar throttle response on this Vmax 1700, that I had on that ZX14R!!! If I could Keep the Stock Braking Compression and still gain the Instant Hard Throttle Response you all talk about. One of the things I really like about these Vmax 1700's is the Braking Compression, when I let off on the throttle how the bike slows down so quickly compared to any other bike I have ridden. It's a Fantastic Bike to ride just as it sits though. I will eventually give him a call again and see if I could get what I want out of this bike "and still leave it in stock formation" otherwise. Nash on the phone back in 2015 about the different flashes, I could not make up my mind at the time though, plus at that time, the Vmax 1700 was the most powerful Stock bike I had ever ridden. I have read about the different Nash Flash levels. ![]() Very Comfortable, I could ride all day on and not be sore. When I give my Vmax Full Throttle it feels to me like the power/speed is trying to catch up to my throttle position. It would have been So Cool if these Vmax 1700's had come stock with the 3 level adjustable power, wouldn't need the flash. Hard really to describe the power delivery on it. When that ZX was in the highest power position (I don't remember what the 3 power levels were called) it would flat out FLY!! It would Definitely beat up on any Stock Vmax 1700. That Stock ZX14R had 3 power levels the owner could adjust as needed. ![]() It was about 200lbs lighter though to if I remember correctly. That bike was Way Faster (noticeably faster anyway) in the low end than this Vmax is. *The only thing I would be interested in, with a Nash Flash is if I could get a much quicker acceleration in the low rpm range. It's like it has a delayed throttle response or something, maybe because these bikes are so heavy. Mine is a bit slow picking up speed on the low end but pulls hard and steady after the about half throttle, I am comparing it to riding a ZX14R. ![]() I like my 2017 Vmax in its stock form, Runs Perfect, no surging or anything I have read about that others have had. ![]() ![]() ![]() Super Princess Peach Mario Party 9 Princess Daisy, peach, heroes, nintendo, video Game png 864x1210px 636.25KB.Luigi Princess Peach, rainbow light, child, heroes, super Mario Bros png 646x1024px 333.97KB Cinderella illustration, Cinderella Minnie Mouse T-shirt Carriage Disney Princess, cindrella, fictional Character, cartoon, princess png 1296x864px 1.03MB.angel illustration, Baptism Angel First Communion Child, baptism, toddler, boy, infant png 1280x1600px 245.54KB.Eeyore, Eeyore Winnie the Pooh Piglet Winnie-the-Pooh Tigger, winnie the pooh, purple, marine Mammal, mammal png 600圆00px 657.06KB.Wii Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, mario bros, white, mammal, super Mario Bros png 1130x1002px 379.96KB Nintendo 64, mario bros, super Mario Bros, nintendo, vertebrate png 819x1024px 315.31KB Super Mario 64 Luigis Mansion Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Luigi, game, super Mario Bros, hand png 772x1024px 381.15KB Tom Cat Jerry Mouse Golden age of American animation Tom and Jerry Cartoon, Tom & Jerry, mammal, cat Like Mammal, heroes png 768x1126px 427KB.Batman Batcave, batman, heroes, superhero, vertebrate png 456圆45px 276.79KB.Disney Princess Jasmine illustration, Princess Jasmine Aladdin Belle Disney Princess, Jasmine s, the Walt Disney Company, cartoons, fictional Character png 595x924px 562.12KB.Princess Daisy, mario, heroes, super Mario Bros, video Game png 900x902px 475.19KB Princess Peach and Mario, Princess Peach Super Mario Bros.2, peach, heroes, super Mario Bros, nintendo png 2987x4830px 3.29MB Princess Peach illustration, Super Princess Peach Super Mario Bros.Wii, Mario Party 8, super Mario Bros, hand, nintendo png 502x821px 487.77KB ![]()
![]() ![]() The ulterior conclusion is very important – namely, that common Syrian workmen, who could not command the skill of an Egyptian sculptor, were familiar with writing at 1500 B.C., and this a writing independent of hieroglyphics and cuneiform. Such seems to be the conclusion that we must reach from the external evidence that we can trace. And here we have the result, at a date some five centuries before the oldest Phoenician writing that is known. ![]() Some of the workmen employed by the Egyptians, probably the Aamu or Retennu – Syrians – who are often named, had this system of linear signs which we have found they naturally mixed many hieroglyphs with it, borrowed from their masters. Evans has found to have been used in Crete, long before the Phoenician age, show how several systems were in use. The two systems of writing, pictorial and linear, which Dr. A mass of signs was used continuously from 6,000 or 7,000 B.C., until out of it was crystallized the alphabets of the Mediterranean – the Karians and Celtiberians preserving the greatest number of signs, the Semites and Phoenicans keeping fewer. "I am disposed to see in this one of the many alphabets which were in use in the Mediterranean lands long before the fixed alphabet selected by the Phoenicians. Inscribed on the pot are some big letters about an inch high, of which only five are complete, and traces of perhaps three additional letters written in Proto-Canaanite script. A possible example of Proto-Canaanite, the inscription on the Ophel pithos, was found in 2012 on a pottery storage jar during the excavations of the south wall of the Temple Mount by Israeli archaeologist Eilat Mazar in Jerusalem. However, the Phoenician, Hebrew, and other Canaanite dialects were largely indistinguishable before the 11th century BC, and the writing system is essentially identical. 1050 BC, Proto-Canaanite is used for the early alphabets as used during the 13th and 12th centuries BC in Phoenicia. While no extant inscription in the Phoenician alphabet is older than c. Proto-Canaanite is also used when referring to the ancestor of the Phoenician or Paleo-Hebrew script, respectively, before some cut-off date, typically 1050 BC, with an undefined affinity to Proto-Sinaitic. Proto-Canaanite, also referred to as Proto-Canaan, Old Canaanite, or Canaanite, is the name given to the Proto-Sinaitic script ( c. The Wadi el-Hol inscriptions strongly suggest a date of development of Proto-Sinaitic writing from the mid-19th to 18th centuries BC. To this were added a number of short Proto-Canaanite inscriptions found in Canaan and dated to between the 17th and 15th centuries BC, and more recently, the discovery in 1999 of the two Wadi el-Hol inscriptions, found in Middle Egypt by John and Deborah Darnell. These ten inscriptions, plus an eleventh published by Raymond Weill in 1904 from the 1868 notes of Edward Henry Palmer, were reviewed in detail, and numbered (as 345–355), by Alan Gardiner in 1916. The first published group of Proto-Sinaitic inscriptions were discovered in the winter of 1904–1905 in Sinai by Hilda and Flinders Petrie. The evolution of Proto-Sinaitic and the small number of Proto-Canaanite inscriptions from the Bronze Age is based on rather scant epigraphic evidence it is only with the Bronze Age collapse and the rise of new Semitic kingdoms in the Levant that Proto-Canaanite is clearly attested ( Byblos inscriptions 10th–8th century BC, Khirbet Qeiyafa inscription c. However, the discovery of the two Wadi el-Hol inscriptions near the Nile River suggests that the script originated in Egypt. ![]() The choice of one or the other date decides whether it is proto-Sinaitic or proto-Canaanite, and by extension locates the invention of the alphabet in Egypt or Canaan respectively. The principal debate is between an early date, around 1850 BC, and a late date, around 1550 BC. The earliest Proto-Sinaitic inscriptions are mostly dated to between the mid-19th (early date) and the mid-16th (late date) century BC. According to common theory, Canaanites or Hyksos who spoke a Canaanite language repurposed Egyptian hieroglyphs to construct a different script. They are considered the earliest trace of alphabetic writing and the common ancestor of both the Ancient South Arabian script and the Phoenician alphabet, which led to many modern alphabets including the Greek alphabet. Proto-Sinaitic (also referred to as Proto-Canaanite when found in Canaan, or Early Alphabetic) is found in a small corpus of about 40 inscriptions and fragments, the vast majority from Serabit el-Khadim in the Sinai Peninsula, dating to the Middle Bronze Age. 18 CE (derived from Eastern Arabic numerals and Brahmi numerals) BCEĪdlam (slight influence from Arabic) 1989 CE ![]() ![]() ![]() First and foremost, you are allowed to save video from YouTube to WebM format using a YouTube to WebM converter. It was a very refreshing change from the weather even back down the trail at Table Rock and it felt like a very unique kind of place. What I found most amazing about the environment of the gorge was how cool and wet everything was. There are a couple wider places on the boardwalk to stop at within the gorge itself, but plan ahead for photos – I got most of my best shots just before the boardwalk actually entered the gorge, where I could look all the way up through. ![]() ![]() As the trail winds up through the woods the sound of rushing water begins to become familiar and the mossy woods give a preview of the gorge ahead.Īs the trail reaches the Flume Gorge, it moves to a narrow boardwalk at the bottom of the gorge with lots of great views up and down the river. Just beyond the Boulder Cabin is Table Rock- what could be called the first waterfall on the trail, where the river rushes across a wide stone slab. The scenery becomes most interesting right after the Boulder Cabin, so if you do take the shuttle and start your walk at the cabin you won’t miss much. You can read a lot more about the hotels and see a Concord Coach like the ones that might have brought early guests to the Flume at the Visitor’s Center. The Boulder Cabin was the original starting point to a walk through the Flume Gorge, and the Flume Covered Bridge was built to accommodate coaches coming from New Hampshire’s grand hotels to the cabin. The trail starts from the visitor center, and the Flume Gorge is 7/10 of a mile out, or just 3/10 of a mile from the shuttle stop at the Boulder Cabin. The main attraction is a 2 mile walking trail including boardwalks through the gorge itself for an incredible close-up view. ![]() The Flume is a spectacular natural gorge at the base of Mt. ![]() ![]() You are both attempting to hear the existence of something – a pulse or movement of air – while also assessing the quality or type of sound you are hearing. Auscultation requires your attention and mindfulness. As you listen, consider how what you are hearing matches the patient’s current and chronic medical conditions, age and chest wall thickness. Use every patient contact as an opportunity to hear the gentle whoosh of air during exhalation and inhalation. A critical step in identifying abnormal lung sounds is having listened to lots and lots of normal lung sounds. You may need to move the patient to the ambulance or an exam room before you are going to be able to hear well with your stethoscope. ![]() Some scenes, especially outdoors, as just too loud with ambient noise. Ask your partner to pause with an assessment or intervention or the patient to stop moving while you are listening. Use verbal direction and body language, like a focused glance or head nod, to quiet your partner, the patient and bystanders as you attempt to listen. Double-check the direction the ear tips are facing if you are having a hard time hearing. The ear tubes and ear tips are generally angled and should be inserted pointed or angled towards the user’s nose. The most common mistake I have seen EMT students make is inserting the stethoscope ear tips in the wrong direction. If you hold the diaphragm too loosely, you’ll hear the sound of the diaphragm moving on the patient’s skin and hair. Apply just enough pressure that the diaphragm doesn’t slide and stays in place as the patient’s chest wall expands and contracts with breathing. The diaphragm of the stethoscope, placed on the patient’s bare skin, needs to be held firmly in place, but not pressed deeply into the patient’s tissue. Start high and listen to lung sounds as you work your way down the patient’s back. If you are too low or below the posterior rib cage, you are more likely to hear bowel sounds than the whoosh of air moving in and out of the lungs. The lungs are underneath and protected by the ribs. You’ll hear best if you place the stethoscope diaphragm directly against the patient’s bare skin. Clothing, even light layers, can dampen the sounds you are attempting to hear. But don’t spend so much on a stethoscope that you’ll be financially and emotionally crushed if you leave it behind on scene or forget to take it out of the ambulance at shift change. The beginner stethoscope you bought at the start of EMT class might be great for the relative calm and quiet of the classroom, but you’ll probably be better served by a higher-quality stethoscope in the ambulance, on the street or in a patient’s bedroom. ![]() When buying a stethoscope, like anything, you’ll get what you pay for. In general, use hearing protection anytime you are operating light- or heavy machinery, including your lawnmower, leaf blower and chainsaw. While riding in the ambulance or fire apparatus, keep the windows up when running with the siren (and lights) and use employer-provided hearing protection. When you are not using your stethoscope, take good care of your hearing by keeping the volume down on music, videos and games, especially while using AirPods or headphones. I have also added additional tips from other EMS educators, so read all the way to the end of the article and submit your own tips to be added to the list. If you are having a hard time hearing through your stethoscope, here are a few things to try. ![]() Bystanders and partners talking, dogs barking, idling vehicle engines and more can make it difficult to hear the transmission of audio waves from the patient’s lungs, heart, bowels or arteries through the stethoscope tubing and into your ears. But hearing through a stethoscope in the chaotic prehospital environment is a constant challenge. ![]() In some situations, paramedics might auscultate a patient’s heart sounds or a long bone to assess for a fracture. At a minimum, EMTs and paramedics are expected to auscultate a patient’s blood pressure and listen to lung sounds as part of a respiratory illness physical exam. Auscultation, which is to listen, with a stethoscope is part of every patient assessment. ![]() |
